Brief Paperwork
Upon entering the office, we have some brief paperwork for you to fill out. The paperwork provides us with general information about yourself and your condition. A Clinic Health Assistant will review the clinic policies and fees with you.

Consultation and History
Once the paperwork has been completed, you will have a consultation with the chiropractor to discuss your health-related problems, concerns, as well as potential treatment options. In order to determine what your actual problem is, the chiropractor will ask you various questions related to your condition. It is important for the doctor to get a thorough history. Traumas, lifestyle and any other health issues should be discussed at that time.

Examination
Next, a number of specialized tests will be performed to determine which tissues are affected and to what extent. The chiropractor will do a thorough orthopedic chiropractic examination and neurological examination. Further chiropractic tests may be necessary to assess the affected area, such as having you move in a specific manner. In addition, a posture analysis and Semg screening will also be performed.

Digital X-Ray Studies
Your specific condition may require us to take X-rays to either rule out more serious conditions or assist us in developing the most effective treatment plan for you. Our clinic features state-of-the-art digital X-ray equipment, and all findings will be reviewed with you upon your return to the clinic for your Report of Findings.

Report of Findings
You will be given a convenient appointment time for your follow-up visit. Generally, patients are seen within 1-2 days and are provided with a complete review of findings and a report that they can take home. A complete report will also be sent to your family physician upon request.

Our first step will be to review the information collected from the examination and the tests conducted to determine if the condition is suited for chiropractic treatment. Patients will commence care, if after review of the examination and all appropriate studies, their case is one the chiropractor deems appropriate for treatment. The chiropractor will make their recommendations and review treatment options. The length of the required care for your condition will also be discussed during this time. The chiropractor will also explain and demonstrate the chiropractic treatments and any equipment that will be used in your care prior to your treatment.

Health Insurance
Many insurance companies have benefits covering all or part of chiropractic costs (i.e., Great West Life, Sun Life, PSHCP). We will provide you with receipts that may be submitted to insurance companies for reimbursement. We ask however that your account is kept current while awaiting reimbursement.

When booking your first massage therapy treatment, our registered massage therapists require all new patients to complete both sides of our new patient form.

On your first visit, the most important thing is determining the sources and causes of your injury and pain. Upon arrival, you will complete a new patient health questionnaire that will allow the physiotherapist to know your associated conditions and your medical history. The physiotherapist will then take you through a complete physical and pain assessment; as well as speak to you about your history, sport or athletic involvement, lifestyle, and work.

Your first appointment may last up to one hour. Your physical assessment will not only include the area of injury; but also your total body mechanics, flexibility, strength, joint movement, and an array of specialized tests and techniques specific to your injury or pain.

Finally, the physiotherapist will take the time to explain your condition, the affected structures, the treatment plan and exercises that you will have to perform at home and he will answer all your questions. If time permits, some treatment techniques will also be performed.

You won’t need to undress, but please wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothing that allow the physiotherapist to see how you move and gives access to the part of your body that hurts. For example, with a shoulder issue, wear a loose, sleeveless shirt. If we’re looking at your knee or your hip, a pair of shorts is good. We’ll also discuss any medical history that relates to your condition, so please bring details of health problems and past treatments.

When booking your first physiotherapy treatment, our physiotherapists require all new patients to complete our new patient form.  You can download and complete then save and email it back to us.  You may also bring the completed form to your scheduled appointment or arrive 10 minutes early to your appointment and our receptionist will have the form ready for you to complete upon your arrival.
