Shockwave Therapy – Glebe Clinic
Shockwave Therapy is a non-invasive treatment that involves creating a series of low-energy acoustic wave pulsations that are applied using a gel medium to the injured area. The purpose of this therapy is to trigger the body’s own natural healing response. There may be a slight feeling of discomfort during the treatment. The number of treatments varies depending on the indication and tissue response. The effectiveness of treatment is cumulative, so you will require more than one treatment. Most conditions will require 3-6 treatments done 3 to 10 days apart. Following treatment, you may experience temporary soreness, tenderness or swelling for a few days. Upon completion of your treatment, you can return to most regular activities.
Shockwave Therapy has been shown to effectively treat the following conditions:
Tennis Elbow . Golfer’s Elbow . Calcific Tendinosis of the rotator cuff muscles . Patellar Tendinitis . Bursitis . Shin Splints . IT band friction syndrome . Patellar Tendinitis . Plantar Fasciitis . Heel Spurs . Achilles Tendinitis
Most personal healthcare plans in Ontario cover the cost of Shockwave Therapy when it is administered by a Physiotherapist. Please check with your insurer to determine your coverage

Physiotherapy for Workplace Injuries and Claims (WSIB)
It’s not uncommon for Ontario workers to seek physiotherapy treatment after suffering an injury while at work. Many patients are covered under the provincial Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) regulations. However, to qualify for the coverage, the accident needs to be reported to your employer and a report filed as soon as possible. Of course, the employer will need to be registered with the WSIB.
At CURAVITA, we are a registered service provider for WSIB claims and will be able to provide you with information on how to access our many healthcare services. Our goal is to assist you and make the entire process as simple as can be.
